The
heart of God’s good news is His offer of salvation to us. Let’s
explore what God says about this salvation.
If
you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is
with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with
your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10: 9, 10
1.
We say what we believe about Jesus. If you confess
with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead… Romans 10:9
We
make a public statement of identity with Jesus.
confess
with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”… Romans 10:9
The
mouth gives verbal acknowledgement to what we believe.
With
our mouth we recognize Jesus has the right to lordship
in our lives.
2) We support our
statement with our personal belief.
believe
in your heart that God raised him from the dead Romans 10:9
A
Christian believes not only that Jesus Christ lived, but that He
lives.
He
[Philippian jailer] ...asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be
saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be
saved—you and your household.”
Acts 16:30, 31
To
believe in Jesus trust every area of your life to Him.
Everyone
who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.
1 John 5:1
2.
We receive what God gives to us. you will be saved
Romans 10:9
God
saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t
take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a
reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast
about it.
Ephesians 2:8, 9 NLT
God’s
special favor is called Grace: God’s Riches
at Christ’s Expense.
When
we believe we express our Faith in Jesus Christ:
Forsaking
All I Trust Him.
3.
We accept what God says about us. For it is with your
heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth
that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10:10
Because
of what Jesus has done for us through His death, burial, &
resurrection…
Our
faith in Jesus sets us right with God.
with
your heart that you believe and are justified Romans 10:10
Justified
– we are brought into a right relationship with God.
One
way justification has been explained is
“Just-as-if-I-had-never-sinned.” When God justifies us in Jesus
we cross the point of entry for the Christian faith. Spiritual
transformation makes us right with God.
I
will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.
Hebrews 8:12
Our
statement of faith in Jesus identifies us with God.
with
your mouth that you confess and are saved Romans 10:10
Everyone
who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Romans 10:13
What
Scripture confronts us with is the necessity for everyone to settle
the question, “Is Jesus Lord of my life?”
