Jesus Way

The
attitude you wear reveals your relationship with Jesus Christ.
Therefore,
as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves
with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear
with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against
one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these
virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Colossians 3:12-14
Remember,
you are cherished.
Therefore,
as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved…
Colossians 3:12
You
have been chosen to be one of God’s people, not
because of your goodness but because of God’s grace.
You
are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people
belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called
you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9
God
chose you because He saw something in you that no one else could see.
He saw what you could become in Christ.
New
life in Christ does not force you to do things to earn God’s
approval, but frees you to allow God to express Himself through your
life.
Because
you are cherished by God:
Christ
molds your spirit.
Clothe
yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and
patience.
Colossians 3:12
God
encourages you to relate properly to others. Seek to understand
others. Let your words and deeds communicate value and dignity. Put
others’ feelings before your own in your efforts to get along with
them. And bear with their painful peculiarities, doing your best to
be gracious with them. In everything seek to express the fact that
you care about them.
Christ
helps you forgive.
Bear
with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against
one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Colossians 3:13
No
one travels through life without being hurt by someone. Everyone has
legitimate reasons to carry grievances. However, the way of Christ
challenges you to turn loose of your grievances in order to allow
people to grow beyond the hurt they have caused you.
F.
Scott Fitzgerald: Family quarrels are bitter things. They don’t go
according to any rules. They’re not like aches or wounds; they’re
more like splits in the skin that won’t heal because there’s not
enough material.
God
taught you to forgive by forgiving you before you sinned against him
in specific ways. His forgiveness is unconditional. How are you at
forgiving?
Christ
defines your love.
And
over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in
perfect unity.
Colossians 3:14
