Prayer Letter - 6 February 2006
To: Prayer Partners
From: Pastor Lucenay
Our thought world is a world unto itself. Have you invited the Lord Jesus Christ to transform your thoughts? Paul wrote the Romans saying do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (12:2). Perhaps, this is a good time to invite God to do a healing work in our minds.
Father, thank You for creating my mind. You know everything about the way it is supposed to work and the way my mind actually works. You search every thought on my heart and in my imagination. Though I fight to discipline my mind so that every thought can be taken captive for Christ Jesus, I cannot win the battle alone. Thank You for meeting my weakness with Your strength.
Turn my mind from bitterness and an unwillingness to forgive. Take my mind off of the things that cannot be changed. Help me place my worries in Your hands. Grant me an attitude of Christ-like humility that refuses to live in pride, judging others when only You have that right. Cleanse the way I talk to myself so that Christ would be honored with every word that crosses the threshold of my mind.
Renew my mind with Your Word. Your truth can set me free from worldly thinking. Though my natural thoughts are not Your thoughts, I believe You can instill in me the mind of Christ Jesus. Through faith You have made me a new creation. Help me put off the old ways of thinking that are a part of my fallen nature and think godly thoughts renewed by the knowledge of Your redemptive work in me and in those around me. Set my affections on things above, not on the temporary things that make up this passing world. Help me see my life through the eyes of faith so I may walk in oneness with You.
Today I want to think about the things that are true in Christ Jesus. Guide the conversations of my mind in honesty, purity, and admiration. Help me focus on Your excellence and give You the praise for all You are and do. Please let the meditations of my heart be honorable and acceptable to You for I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
